Peacefrog Rec. José González : Veneer (S,2003)***°'

A great discovery is this talented musician with some similarities to Nick Drake / early John Martyn/ Great Lake Swimmers / Rivulets,… but with its own distinctive guitar style. His Argentine father brought him into contact with Beatles and bossanova, but he taught himself flamenco and classical guitar. In combination with his heartfelt velvet warm voice, to which I can not really find a proper comparison, Jose came to his own style. There are a few sparse arrangements. This is perfect lay back music with a inspired feeling. It has something essential.
